**JOB TITLE**: School Cleaner
**STATUS**: Full time
**ACCOUNTABLE TO**: Deputy Head of Education

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- To clean bathrooms, bedrooms and lounges in the home and associated areas as per outlined standards.
- To dispose of refuse safely: Emptying and cleaning of bins
- To be responsible for a set of keys and for ensuring the security and integrity of areas of cleaning.
- To report maintenance issues as per company procedures.
- To report any hazards, defects and any relevant factors of building or environment safety that may be detrimental to safe working practices and normal school operations, immediately to the line manager
- To clean domestic kitchens including surfaces, large and small equipment, including microwave and other ovens, fridges and freezers; to dispose of refuse.
- To dust, damp wipe, wash and/or polish the walls, furniture, window ledges, window sills and external surfaces of cupboards, radiators, shelves and fitments, to a height no greater than body height plus an arm's extension from floor level
- To store linen, help handle outgoing soiled linen and incoming clean linen.
- To maintain environment; deep clean carpeted and non-carpeted areas, soft furnishings and bedding; fixtures and fittings; windows and walls; maintain storage
- To operate machinery and equipment safely as required: Use of electronically powered scrubbing / polishing / vacuuming machines to scrub, polish, spray and clean floors (after receiving proper instruction and training)
- To brush and mop hard floor surfaces
- To vacuum clean both hard and soft floors
- To spot clean any and all spillages
- To wipe down furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polish door glass
- To clean toilets (including sanitary fittings) urinals, hand basins, sinks and their surrounding areas.
- To replenish consumable janitorial supplies in toilets, kitchens etc. (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels, washing liquid) when required
- To ensure any and all windows are closed and lights switched off at the end of shift
- To comply with COSHH regulations
- To work within the relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- To check equipment / machinery used and ensure health and safety guidelines are adhered to
- To participate in the Annual Performance Development Review Process.
- To use chemical agents safely, appropriately and as per instruction
- To monitor cleaning stock levels and inform the line manager of low stock levels.
- To carry out routine administrative tasks required necessary for the role
- To maintain tidy and organised work spaces and storage areas
- To provide support to staff as requested and in accordance with own training / skill parameters
