**About The Felix Project**
The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe.
Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.
We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants, and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Instead, we deliver it free of charge to London charities, schools, food banks, food hubs and other organisations serving people in need. Our food is a vital lifeline for children and families, people on low incomes, people who have lost their jobs, the homeless, refugees, domestic abuse survivors, the elderly and keyworkers.
We were founded in 2016 in memory of Felix Byam Shaw, by his father, entrepreneur Justin Byam Shaw.
**Purpose of the Job**
The Green Scheme operates point-to-point collection and delivery routes throughout the day and into the evenings (up until approx. 21:30). We are expanding the operation to weekends and the purpose of this role will be to oversee out of hours routes in the evening and weekend routes.
The role will be involved in all aspects of co-ordination for Green Scheme operational activities. The role will be key in ensuring routes (predominantly evening and weekend routes) operate as smoothly as possible to ensure we deliver as much food as we are able to.
You will be a key contact for relevant partners on routes (volunteers, food suppliers, community organisations) and the main point of contact for out of hours routes (ie evenings and weekends). You will communicate changes and update all partners where necessary and provide support to volunteers undertaking routes to ensure they have a positive volunteer experience.
**Duties and Accountabilities**
- Confirm collection and deliveries with our food suppliers and community organisations. Communicate when there are cancellations and update the relevant databases.
- Volunteer support whilst on routes. You will be responsible for responding to queries and ensuring volunteers are equipped and confident to carryout routes.
- Review schedule for upcoming day and ensure volunteers are assigned to routes and have received relevant information.
- Utilise online platforms for volunteer scheduling, fleet management, and route planning. Update platforms when required to ensure they reflect operational changes.
- Respond to emergency calls from volunteers and troubleshoot issues at hand to ensure the safety of volunteers and situation resolution.
- Support team in development of operation which could include expansion of new routes, process improvement and implementation, on-boarding new food suppliers, community organisations and volunteers, and other various projects as they arise.
- Work closely with other Green Scheme Co-ordinator to ensure coverage across all tasks and regularly liaise with Green Scheme Manager, Green Scheme Assistant and Volunteer Manager. Share concisely and efficiently any issues which arose out of hours and what actions were taken.
- Management of route schedule which includes ensuring we have volunteer coverage and assets ready for use (for example, electric vans have enough charge to complete scheduled route).
- Ad-hoc driving to support with distribution.
**Person Specification**
You will love working with a wide variety of people and be able to quickly build strong and positive relationships in a volunteer-centric organisation. You are highly organised, data and IT savvy, and efficient with your time, and you are used to prioritising and making a difference wherever you go. You have a passion to be in a charity that is expanding rapidly and thrive in a busy environment. You will have a desire to help reduce food waste and/or fight food poverty.
**Essential skills/knowledge relevant to this role**
- Ability to make decisions quickly and independently.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment ideally in logistics/operations.
