As a Senior Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing stock levels and supplier lead times to ensure the timely fulfillment of customer and factory requirements. Operating within a dynamic Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for facilitating the procurement of raw materials and finished goods, maintaining supplier relationships, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Order raw materials and finished goods in accordance with customer and factory demands, aligning delivery schedules with MRP requirements.
- Maintain accurate delivery dates and engage in regular dialogue with suppliers to ensure on-time dispatch of goods.
- Monitor and uphold supplier performance KPIs, escalating issues as necessary to drive performance improvements.
- Collaborate with the goods received department to ensure timely availability of goods.
- Ensure accuracy and currency of supplier and product data to support the MRP process.
- Provide support for the New Product Introduction process.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide training, support, and direction to team members.
- Lead and participate in procurement projects, contributing to project objectives.
- Lead and participate in supplier development programs and reviews to meet business targets.
- Lead and participate in process and systems improvement projects.
- Support the company's supplier compliance program and ensure due diligence in accordance with business requirements.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Experience: Education:
- HNC in a business discipline preferred.
- CIPS or similar qualification advantageous but not essential.
**Experience**:
- Background in manufacturing.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment with challenging deadlines.
- Experience in planning and procurement of raw materials.
- Previous experience working within a Supply Chain/Buying team.
- Familiarity with working with MRP systems.
**Skills**:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including intermediate Excel.
- Strong team player with a self-motivated and flexible approach to tasks.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Fast-paced office environment with exposure to a manufacturing environment.
Travel:
- Limited travel required.
- Occasional requirement to visit suppliers at short notice based on business needs.
