A unique and exciting opportunity has become available for a highly competent Data Specialist to take a leadership role for evidence within the Wessex area. We are looking for a self-starter who can work flexibly, communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences and who can find innovative, strategic solutions to data and evidence challenges.
- Responsibilities will include:
- Innovative support, development and promotion of new spatial platforms, tools, and services.
- Development of an evidence strategy which will support decision making and priority setting in Wessex Area
- Fulfil business needs through the provision of evidence in accessible formats to a wide range of customers
- Dissemination of data to provide a robust evidence base and meet customer needs
- Influence and persuade others, both internally and externally to ensure appropriate evidence is available to support delivery of integrated environmental outcomes.
- Act as a representative and Single Point of Contact for a range of data networks. The post holder will be expected to build networks across the business and influence those networks to support local delivery plans.

Experience/skills required
- You'll be able to demonstrate relevant data and information management experience.
- Qualified to at least degree standard in a relevant discipline and provide evidence of:
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with a variety of customers and explain complex information in a way that is easy to understand
- Strong data analysis, GIS, and statistical skills with experience of working on large data sets and developing ways of analysing data
- Ability to influence and persuade others to deliver environmental outcomes
- Working on a common approach to data management activities such as metadata, data quality techniques, data standards and custodianship.
- Application of continuous improvement approaches or improving processed ways of working.

Experience in the use of the following would be beneficial:
- Python
- ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online (AGOL)
- Good knowledge of EA water quality and biological data systems

Contact and additional information
- Your base location will be Bridgwater or Blandford Forum. However, we currently operate hybrid working arrangements. There will be a requirement for some travel to attend some meetings at locations in Wessex Area.
