**Support Worker**

**Location**: Stratford upon Avon

**Salary**: £16 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate support worker to provide essential support to a man living in his own property in Stratford upon Avon. The individual has autism, social anxiety, contamination anxiety, and may occasionally display challenging behaviour. Your role will be crucial in promoting his well-being, independence, and overall quality of life.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Emotional Support**:

- Provide empathetic and understanding emotional support tailored to the individual's needs.
- Foster a positive and trusting relationship to enhance his emotional well-being.
- **De-escalation and Distraction**:

- Effectively deescalate challenging situations using approved techniques.
- Employ distraction strategies to redirect focus and diffuse tension during stressful moments.
- **Promoting Independence**:

- Empower the individual to develop and enhance independent living skills.
- Encourage and facilitate decision-making to foster a sense of autonomy.
- **Routine Management**:

- Assist in maintaining a structured daily routine to provide stability and predictability.
- Support adherence to schedules, appointments, and responsibilities.
- **Daily Living Tasks**:

- Assist with day-to-day tasks such as cleaning, personal hygiene, and finance management.
- Foster a supportive environment for the individual to manage daily responsibilities.
- **Sensory Awareness**:

- Be attuned to sensory needs and preferences, adapting the environment accordingly.
- Implement strategies to minimize sensory discomfort and enhance comfort.
- **Emotional Trigger Management**:

- Identify emotional triggers for stress and anxiety.
- Implement personalized strategies to mitigate triggers and enhance emotional well-being.
- **Community Access Support**:

- Support the individual in accessing and participating in community activities.
- Foster community integration and social interaction.
- **Person centred care**:

- Recognize and incorporate the individual's interests, such as F1, horror movies, football, and music, into daily activities and routines.

**Requirements**:

- Valid driving license and access to a car are mandatory.
- Previous experience working with individuals with autism and challenging behaviour is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic situations and remain calm under pressure.
- Sensitivity to the unique needs and challenges associated with autism.
- Must be flexible and consistent.

The refer a friend scheme is worth £200 in total. This is split £100 after the person has worked 100 hours and then another £100 when they have passed probation (6 months usually).
