You will be part of frontline operation at our sites in West Sussex and the business simply cannot operate without you, where you can have a significant impact on the environment and determine the outcome of successful site audits and compliance. Every day is different, you will be working in all conditions carrying out and a range of tasks, to ensure the essential functions of water booster stations and water storage reservoirs and to maintain the upkeep of these areas so that Southern Water can continue to take pride in successfully delivering wholesome water to our customers.

Hours of work are Monday to Wed 8am to 4pm and Thursday and Friday 8am to 3.30pm which is great if you appreciate a longer weekend by finishing earlier on a Friday. All Operational Teams are expected to have 20% of staff working on a bank holiday, and there will also be 25 days of paid leave. There may be a future requirement for standby working in this role.

Joining us as an Assistant Process Operator could prepare you well for future roles across the business. Assistant Process operators have gone on to achieve roles in Process Operation and then onto management to Field Performance Manager level, and indirect pathways to Process Science roles - these are the technical experts in the process operation arena. Southern Water can support this ambition with upskilling apprenticeships and other training.

Although work is generated to you on a weekly basis, you will be managing your own time, giving you the freedom and flexibility to design your own working week, you will learn how to be organised and proactive.

You will undertake as part of the role:

- The upkeep of sites to a very high standard
- Ensure site compliance
- Identify and escalate infrastructural issues within the framework
- Complete weekly batch of jobs without accumulating a backlog
- Maintain site compliance to ISO140001 standards
- Manage the safety of visitors, both to internal and external, and provide access
- Be flexible to react to impromptu events and requests
- Develop and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders

You will be:

- Comfortable working outdoors, potentially in all weather conditions.
- Part of a team who delivers excellent performance by understanding how you affect the overall mission of Southern Water.
- Have a good sense of humour, because of what you will be working with and not to be too squeamish
- Adaptable, flexible, patient, reliable and self-motivated.
- Good with time management
- Confident to work effectively and efficiently on your own.

**Qualifications**:

- Valid UK Drivers Licence - You will be travelling to different sites across the area
