Yard Operative

We are looking for a Yard Operative for our busy Distribution Centre.

If you are highly motivated, have experience with yard maintenance, movement of stock and excellent housekeeping abilities, then this could be the opportunity you have been looking for.

Each working week consists of 45 hours, made up of 5 x 8.5-hour days Monday to Friday. Between the hours of 7.30 and 6.00pm which includes an additional 5 hours on every alternate Saturday in accordance with the rota. You are entitled to a meal break of 30 minutes.

**Main Purpose of Job**:

- To control and manage the activity in the front and rear yards keeping both areas to a high standard. This will include the movement of stock and materials both inbound, outbound and internally at the Distribution Centre.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Supporting the Goods in and Goods Out teams with their daily operations.
- Unloading pallet deliveries in a timely manner and accurately receipted.
- Load outgoing deliveries on vans and lorries.
- Control movement of vehicles on yard.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Meet and great incoming vehicles
- Reports into the First line good in manager.
- Keep the yard clean & tidy.
- Maintain a high level of Health & Safety standards.
- Manual handling skills - this is a physically demanding role.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and processes.
- Ad hoc jobs as required.

**Additional Responsibilities**:

- Promote and represent the Company positively by providing a proactive customer service based on an understanding of customer demands, their relationship with the organisation and promoting our services.
- Comply with all the Company’s policies, procedures, and controls relevant to the role to mitigate risk to the Company.

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**:

- A good standard of general education including numerical and literacy skills.
- An excellent team player with the desire to succeed.
- Proven Yard and Banksman experience.
- Good communication skills.
- A person who can pay careful attention to the job & follow instructions precisely.
- Punctuality, dependable and reliable always.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills.
- Ability to cope with pressure and always maintain a calm manner.
- A flexible attitude.
- FLT Counterbalance License.
- Experience in Motor factor industry *

Pay: £11.44 per hour
