**what you’ll be responsible for**

We’re excited to be expanding our Software Engineering team and are looking for a Tech Lead to join us and our team of engineers to help deliver transformative changes to support the whole business.

This is a hands-on development role and you will be responsible for designing and building key solutions, and helping shape the technical direction of our technologies for years to come.

You will be
- Working closely with other engineers, technical architects and business stakeholders to design and build key features across all our systems.
- Contributing your expertise to the future technical direction of our platforms.
- Designing and creating secure integrations between third party systems and our internal systems.
- Providing third line support for our internal systems and helping our Application Support team to build their knowledge.
- Helping iterate on our existing tools and ways of working to continuously improve our software delivery.
- Contributing to code reviews and QA.
- Mentoring junior team members and sharing your knowledge to aid their development.

**what we’re looking for in you**
- You’re curious and don’t just accept the status quo. You can quickly understand and reason about the many systems and processes we have at graze.
- Solid technical knowledge and ability, particularly in designing, building, testing and reviewing solutions.
- Commercial experience with
- PHP, including frameworks such as Laravel
- MySQL
- Docker
- Version control
- Typescript
- Unit testing & integration testing
- server side engineering
- object-oriented design patterns
- Be comfortable operating across the frontend/backend stack and are able to move between them effortlessly.
- You like to work with a team to define and solve problems, but you can also commit and deliver your work independently.
- A personable manner and 'communication first' mentality.
- Self-motivated and calm under pressure. You like to get issues resolved and projects finished.

It would also be good if you have some of these
- Experience of building or managing development environments and tools.
- Knowledge of the AWS platform and services
- Some experience with Go
- Experience using Github
- Knowledge of front end technologies including React

**what we’ll expect in your first 6 months**
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of graze’s systems, architecture and business processes.
- Be able to identify areas of improvement and progress changes.
- Be instrumental in scoping and specifying changes to the systems.
- Gain enough familiarity with the existing codebases that you can comfortably make and review significant changes.
- Be able to respond to, triage and fix technical issues.
- Have fun and enjoy learning all about Graze.
