**Role Overview**

An opportunity exists for a Senior Consultant within the Heritage and Townscape team, based in Central London. One of the largest specialist teams in the field, the Savills Heritage and Townscape Team advises clients on built heritage, townscape and archaeology matters in relation to their sites, adding value to the projects we work on, drawn from our considerable expertise and experience.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Advising clients and design teams on new proposals in sensitive heritage contexts including within conservation areas, world heritage sites or the setting of heritage assets
- Advising clients on the design development of proposals and the relationship of those proposals to the existing townscape context
- Conducting research; assessing the significance of heritage assets, the character and appearance of conservation areas and the character and qualities of townscape areas.
- Attending site visits and meetings on projects
- Managing the smooth running of your projects and supporting more senior members of the team in managing their projects including responsibility for budgets, maintaining project records, coordinating attendance at meetings and issuing documents to clients and design teams.
- Developing as an individual to take a more senior role in the team
- Promoting the Team’s services within the company, with other property and development service providers and potential clients.

**Key Skills**
- Excellent communication skills with good interpersonal and influencing skills, as well as strong report writing skills
- Experience of research (including archive research) and the identification of heritage assets
- Robust assessment of the significance of heritage assets and the impact of works or development on significance
- Practical understanding of the planning system, including ES/EIA requirements
- Experience in a similar role or in local government planning (around 3-5 years’ experience)
- A team player with leadership potential and a strategic approach to problem solving.
- IHBC membership would be advantageous, but not essential.
