Working within the Occupational Therapy department, you will contribute to the assessments, monitoring, evaluation, and modification as you assist in the delivery of therapeutic inventions within a 1:1 and group setting.
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant at The Woodhouse in Stoke-on-Trent, you will observe service users' behaviour, ability, and response to activities, which will see you communicate this to the wider team, where you will keep concise and informative recordsof sessions and assessments through Carenotes and occupational therapy documents.
Under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for devising and managing a balanced therapy timetable to support the service user's care plan, this will see you create a one-to-one rapport as you promote, encourageand empower service users to improve their independence and build a brighter future.

**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Supporting the Occupational Therapist to plan, set up and deliver both group and individual therapeutic sessions for service users which promote or maintain daily living skills and independence.
- Undertaking a prescribed range of therapeutic interventions to promote and maximise service user independence in relation to self-care, productivity, leisure and social activities.
- Providing practical support and assistance to service users to enable them to overcome the problems they experience in carrying out day-to-day activities.
- Contributing to the occupational therapy assessment process by observing service users occupational performance skills.
- Setting up and running a recovery-based skills development sessions to enable service users to engage in vocational opportunities and ultimately enhance their life-long skills and work ability.
- Provide informal peer supervision to support staff to ensure that therapeutic interventions are carried out all day, every day.
- Ensuring that appropriate staffing levels with the correct skills to reflect the needs of the service users and the environment where the intervention is taking place are available during therapeutic sessions.
**To be successful in this role you will need**:
- GCSE/O-Levels (A-C) or a relevant NVQ2
- Previous experience within a relevant healthcare environment and/or similar role
- Knowledge of occupational therapy
- An interest and/or experience in recreational and vocational activities, such as music, art, sports, education and cooking would be advantageous
