**Residential Child Care Practitioner (Waking Nights) Mather Road**

You will work as part of a team to increase life skills through a range of activities.

You will be responsible for key working with young people and be involved in communicating their aspirations and goals in a multi-agency approach. You will be involved in supporting the children and young people through the night in a combined team approach to their care and development. You will input into their care planning and liaise with the day staff to ensure a consistent and coherent service to the home and will support the home in providing a safe and nurturing environment for the children and young people in our care.

As a night worker you will be responsible for checking on the children and young adults at regular intervals throughout the night and dealing with any difficulties, ensuring that the environment is safe, supportive, calm and happy.

With full training and continued support you will take responsibility for ensuring that all their medical needs are met including the administration and recording of prescribed medication if required. You will have experience of working in a residential child-care setting or equivalent and will preferably have a level 3 diploma in child care however we will provide training and support.

This is a waking night position so in the quiet periods you will also be expected to get involved in some light housekeeping duties.

You would be required to work a rota pattern including attendance to regular whole team meetings.

Our normal shift patterns are on a rolling rota basis, our shift working hours are:
31.5 hours per week including weekends and bank holidays. Hours are generally worked over three nights one week and four nights the following week on a rota basis. This will mean days of working can vary from week to week. Enhanced rates of pay are paid for nights at time and a third with additional tim and half for weekend working.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
