**What are we looking for?**

**We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused IT Assistant to join our internal IT team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their IT career in a professional legal environment.

**Where will you be based?**

**This role will be based in our Durham office, but we may expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.

**How many hours will you be working?**

**This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday with an hour’s break for lunch. However, at EMG Solicitors we work flexibly, it’s not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader and the requirements of your clients.

**A brief overview of the role**:
**As an IT Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for all IT-related queries within the firm. You will provide technical support to staff across multiple departments, ensuring mínimal disruption to daily operations and maintaining high standards of service.

**Getting paid for the work you do.**

- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Set up and configure new user accounts, laptops, desktops, and mobile devices.
- Maintain and update IT documentation and asset registers.
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or external providers when necessary.
- Participate in IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
- Document technical procedures and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

**To be able to perform this job you will need.**

- Previous experience in a helpdesk or IT support role (1+ year preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and basic networking.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- A proactive and problem-solving mindset.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data security, especially in a legal context.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Driving License and your own car.

**Desirable**
- Experience working in a legal or professional services environment.
- Familiarity with legal software is a plus.
- Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, ITIL, Microsoft Certified).
