Specific job profiles will be created to meet the skills and interests of successful applicants in line with service need. Both full time and part time work will be considered. The role will involve close joint working with our multiagency colleagues across a range of settings including home visits, schools, nurseries and clinics.

We are a friendly and supportive team that work together from a central base with a strong commitment to maintaining staff health and well being.

To provide a specialist service (including assessment, diagnosis and implementation of specialist SLT treatment) for children with a range of speech, language and communication disorders/difficulties, some that may be associated with wider complex/additional needs

To Liaise with and advise School and Nursery staff and other Agencies/professionals involved with children

To work with Educational staff and parents/guardians to integrate Speech and Language Therapy targets into all areas of a child’s learning.

To provide appropriate clinical supervision and in-service training for speech and language therapy colleagues, assistants and students.

To contribute to Team working in the area of paediatric dysphagia (if appropriate training completed)

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.

To provide appropriate clinical supervision and in-service training for speech and language therapy colleagues, assistants and students.

To work with Trust policies and procedures that ensure patient safety at all times

To work as a specialist practitioner within a multi-disciplinary team of an integrated workforce that is based in the community to meet the health needs of children in Gateshead

Act as a clinical resource for members of the extended multidisciplinary team in their area of expertise.

To act as a resource ensuring trained staff maintain their agreed level of competency within their scope of practice.

To work in close collaboration with educational staff to provide an integrated approach to each patient’s specific difficulties.

To provide excellence in clinical care and working to achieve the highest level of patient safety.

To continuously develop the service and constantly strive to improve.

To contribute towards service evaluation and demonstration of efficacy and efficiency.

A detailed knowledge of the SEND legislation and changes in educational methods and theories.

A working knowledge of curricular issues, the differentiation for learning disabilities and their impact on children with speech and language difficulties.
