**Underwriter - Farming**

**Reports To**:Head of Underwriting**

**Role Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**
- Supporting the delivery of the underwriting strategy and overall iFarm Combined performance through underwriting account management, account monitoring and analysis of underwriting trends
- Developing and executing against any remedial actions identified to return the iFarm Combined book to profitability
- Providing underwriting and technical guidance to the iFarm Combined underwriting team
- Researching, recommending, and agreeing on pricing, underwriting criteria and product changes to ensure iFarm products remain market comparable and continue to deliver profitable growth in line with financial plans
- Ensuring rates and rules are accurately applied within the system
- Assisting with the development and execution of technical underwriting standards, controls and procedures about iFarm Combined
- Maintaining the iFarm Combined Underwriting Guide
- Building a reputation as an underwriting expert working with intermediaries and building confidence in the iFarm UK HQ office capability
- Supporting in proactively managing underwriting relationships with key customers to deliver profitable growth.
- Delivering on the day-to-day case underwriting. In addition to acting as a senior point of technical referral and decision maker on all technical & trading issues to deliver technical excellence within the iFarm branch.
- Leading and managing the underwriting team through effective performance management to continuously develop the technical capabilities and drive engagement within the iFarm UK HQ
- Contributing to the development of colleagues by coaching, training and acting as a reference point to assist in decision making

**Personal Specification**:
**_Qualifications_**
- ACII qualification desirable or working towards
- Degree level or other equivalent qualification preferred
- **_Experience and Knowledge_**:

- An accomplished senior underwriter with 8+ years’ experience in technical underwriting and a good understanding and awareness of the insurance market
- Proven record of taking a technical and decisive approach to underwriting, as the job holder will be a senior point of technical referral.
- Solid understanding of the iFarm product range, wordings and underwriting guides
- Proven experience in decision-making on a wide range of technical underwriting scenarios within a Commercial environment
- Strong understanding of financial performance and the key performance indicators to drive and improve profitability
- Experience in building successful long-term relationships both internally and externally
