The key responsibilities of the role is a combination of a traditional editor leadership and also culture change.

You will provide leadership and direction to the editorial content creation teams working across all print and digital, inspiring and developing staff, ensuring decisions are in line with strategic goals, and upholding the key values of the brand.

Key responsibilities for the role.
- Be an advocate for the audience, ensuring quality information and reader needs are at the heart of the newsroom's journalism
- Ensure all content across all platforms is relevant, of high quality, legally sound, and in line with the strategic direction and mission of the brand
- Act as an ambassador and an advocate for the company internally and externally
- Innovate, and encourage innovation in others, exploring new ways of reaching audiences and telling stories.

**Operationally you will be**
- An Excellent people manager with proven organisational skills
- Have a working knowledge of KPI tools such as Google Analytics and real time analytics such as Chartbeat, and an understanding of how these can inform content decisions and publishing schedules
- Have a deep understanding of social media (platforms, trends, and audience needs) and how to use social media to source/share stories and engage with audiences
- Be aware of different customer loyalty opportunities, such as newsletters and podcasts, and how they can build an engaged audience
- Have a passion for great journalism that connects with local audiences
- Have an innovative and inquiring mindset, keeping abreast of changes and trends in digital journalism
- Have excellent, up-to-date legal knowledge and understanding of The Editors Code
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Be a strong networker keen to build relationships with external stakeholders and act as an ambassador for the brand and company
