We are looking for a Revenues Officer to join our Valuation and Inspection team within the Revenues & Benefits Service.

Council tax and business rates pay for local services, like schools, libraries, refuse collection, streetlights, emergency services and much more.

It’s a challenging time to collect these income streams as people and businesses are really struggling through the Cost of Living crisis; demand for council services however continues to increase.

You will be monitoring new development sites from planning records and other sources for inclusion into the rating and council tax lists held by the Valuation Office Agency.

When the domestic and commercial developments are built, you will be bringing the new properties into the local tax revenues records, updating customer records and processing them in accordance with legislation to ensure prompt billing and collection of these local taxes.

You will need exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written and you should be comfortable in dealing with members of the public and businesses alike.

You will be working as part of a team, in a busy, performance driven environment, so you will be accurately processing high volumes of work to deadlines. It means you will need excellent organisational, numerical and literacy skills.

You may already have a detailed knowledge of local tax administration, but if not, we will provide full training and plenty of support from a great team around you.

**How do I apply?**

**For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.**

**For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.**

**If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.**
