The Head of Operational Risk and Governance is a hands-on role managing a team of risk professionals in the 1st Line of defence executing and co-ordinating the Santander SA, London Branch Governance and Operational Risk function.

The purpose of the role is to develop and maintain across the business area, an integrated programme to identify, assess, manage and report risks and controls enabling the achievement of strategic objectives and supporting corporate goals within agreed risk appetite constraints.

Ensuring the area operates effectively in adherence to the internal policies of the bank and legislative/regulatory guidelines of relevant external authorities.

**The difference you’ll make.**
- Conducting the annual RCSA and Operational Risk Scenario programmes in line with Line 2 policy requirements
- Managing Op Risk events, conducting thematic analyses of root cause, and driving any operational change requirements
- Driving strong governance and documentation standards across SLB
- Ensuring robust management of identified audit and control weaknesses.
- Maintaining clear support documentation and integrity of the control framework, through maintenance of control libraries, frameworks and control assurance testing (e.g. Sox).

**What you’ll bring.**
- Significant Operational Risk experience in a regulated financial services context, preferably within a tier 1 Investment Banking/ Wholesale Banking organization with demonstrated success in managing an Operational Risk Program for complex trading and sales operations
- Detailed knowledge of operational risk frameworks, policies and standards, and proven experience of their development and practical implementation

**It would also be nice for you to have.**
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience in Banking and Financial Markets
- Proven track record in delivering assurance reviews, including scoping, testing, recognition of non-compliance, evaluation of the materiality of findings and the procedures for recording and presenting oversight findings.
- Experiences in the use of Excel Macros and VBA to good technical standard
- Understanding of a recognised project management methodology - Prince 2, Six Sigma.
