Job Overview:
We are a property developer seeking insights into student accommodation around University of Durham. We have a short-term, contract position open to 2 students willing to help us do research. The job description has 2 parts:
1) Identify all student accommodation properties on and off campus.

2) Carrying out qualitative survey research by approaching 100 students on campus and surveying them to understand how they would improve their accommodations.

This is part-time, temporary contract position ideal for university students looking to gain hands-on research experience while contributing valuable insights into the student housing landscape.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Collection: Gather information on current student accommodation options, including on-campus housing and off-campus properties. Populate the data within an excel spreadsheet that we provide you.

Surveys and Interviews: Distribute surveys to students and conduct interviews to collect feedback on current accommodation experiences.

Administrative Support: Perform general administrative tasks related to the research project as needed.

Qualifications:
Education: Current student at University of Durham or another institution, preferably in a relevant field but not mandatory what is more important is that the student shows willingness and follows instructions to complete the tasks successfully.

Research Skills: Basic understanding of research methodologies and data collection techniques.

Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data collection and reporting.

IT Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), proficiency in data analysis software would be a bonus, and ability to take photographs and scan documents or use suitable apps that can record written notes that have been taken.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.

Comfortable performing tasks alone without close guidance or supervision.

Desirable Attributes _(ideal but not mandatory):_

Previous experience in research or data analysis roles.

Knowledge of student accommodation issues and trends or real estate.

Enthusiasm for contributing to student experience improvements.

Working Hours:
Schedule: Flexible, you can set your hours.

Pay: Fixed Fee £400

Duration: Approximately 3-4 weeks from the start date (but tasks should not take more than 30-40 hours in total)
