This is a 10 programmed activity (PA) post plus on-calls created in response to increasing demand and also to support further service development. The appointee will join the current team of four consultants to provide integrated laboratory and clinical services BCSH level 2a to patients at Warwick Hospital.

They will also be part of the Haematology Consortium which currently consists of 13 consultants to provide BCSH level 2b care to patients throughout Coventry and Warwickshire.

The appointees will join the current team of four consultants to provide integrated laboratory and clinical services (British Committee for Standards (BCSH) level 2a) to patients at Warwick Hospital. They will also be part of the Warwickshire Haematology Consortium which currently consists of 13 consultants to provide BCSH level 2b care to patients throughout Warwickshire.

1) To support the inpatient service in Haematology at Warwick Hospital
a. Ward rounds conducted three times a week and board rounds twice week.
b. Review of new admissions and acutely unwell inpatients.
c. Support the day unit and urgent procedure lists.

2) Contribute to the county wide consultant haematology on call rota (current 1 in 6). There will be 13 consultants across Coventry and Warwickshire who provide for 2 simultaneous on-calls, one consultant for Ward 34 at UHCW and the other on-call for the 3 hospitals but not ward 34. Time off in lieu will be considered for weekend working.

3) Outpatient workload
a. There are three outpatient clinics a week; two of which are general haematology with the potential for the third clinic being developed as specialist interest clinic.
b. One PA will be allocated for administration time as part of this 10 PA contract.
c. Attend the weekly haematology MDT and network meetings
d. Undertake intrathecal chemotherapy procedures
