**Application Support Engineer - Various levels of experience**

**Location(s)**:Romsey, Gloucester, and Manchester.

**Type**:Flexible

**Security Clearance: MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR UK DV SECURITY CLEARANCE**

This role is with a world class research and engineering consultancy. They have an extensive history of pushing technological boundaries with cutting edge equipment for the benefit of society.

**Primary job purpose**:

- Provide an escalation point for day-to-day operational support
- Develop solutions and implement changes necessary to resolve issues and improve services
- Mentor and coach technical colleagues and peers to ensure the service delivery team is equipped to provide the required support and operations management of the service

**Key Responsibilities include**:

- Act as the technical owner for assigned Services operated on behalf of the customer
- Provide reactive support, proactive systems management, and in-depth incident and problem resolution.
- Ensure technical support teams adhere to ITSM ticket management procedures and comply with SLA targets and escalation processes
- Primary point of contact for technical escalation for team and customers and deputise for the Service Delivery Manager when required.

**Education and Qualifications**

**Beneficial Knowledge & Experience**:

- Network: routing, switching, security and firewalls
- Software development, testing, diagnostics, using a range of tools and techniques such as:

- Relevant architectural styles e.g., micro service architecture, REST.
- Database design, integration, management, maintenance, migration
- VCS tools & techniques e.g., Git, Mercurial, SVN, Git Flow, branching, merging, patching.
- Best practice e.g., design patterns, unit testing, code coverage, static analysis, dynamic analysis, plus language specifics.
- Systems engineering and modelling languages, tools, techniques, e.g., UML, SysML, Enterprise Architect, Rational Rhapsody, MDA & MBSE.
- Development methodologies e.g., Agile (XP, SCRUM, LeSS, SAFe), Waterfall, V-Model, Spiral
- DevOps experience, such as:

- continuous integration, continuous deployment, Bamboo, Jenkins, Gitlab, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, vRealize, vSphere etc.

**Desirable**:

- Operating Systems: Linux, Windows
- PKI, Encryption, Crypto
- AWS, Azure, Virtualisation, Cloud
