We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accounts Assistant to join our team. This position is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours a week based in Middleton, Greater Manchester. Hybrid working to be discussed following probation period.

The Role

The purpose of the role is to provide a comprehensive financial service to the Mantra Group, working closely with other members of the team to ensure the smooth running of all departmental activity. With a strong focus on personal development and process improvement, you will be able to suggest & implement ways to increase efficiency and accuracy in all areas.

Your duties will include but will not be limited to:

- Administration and review of Sales and Purchase Ledgers to an exceptional standard, acting as an escalation point for queries
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts including subsidiaries
- Assisting with the preparation work for the year end accounts
- Analysis of data as and when required
- Proactively review and improve processes and working instructions
- Liaising with external Accountant in relation to year end, company taxation and other areas
- Assisting in the preparation and submission of the quarterly VAT returns
- Submission of regulatory returns to Companies House
- Ensuring governance and controls are being adhered to
- Working collaboratively with other departments to meet the needs of the businesses

Job requirements

**Education and Knowledge**
- GCSE A - C or equivalent in Maths and English and ICT qualification Level 2
- AAT (level 2) qualified or equivalent
- High proficiency in MS Excel (including, but not limited to, Pivot Tables, vlookups, IF & SUMIF statements)

Fully conversant in the following systems:

- Xero (essential)
- Maytas or other relational and claims data bases (desirable)
- Power BI (desirable)

**Experience**
- Minimum 2 years accounts office experience
- 2 years experience of basic accounting/book-keeping
- Customer service experience
- Experience in a Further Education environment (beneficial)
- Experience of working with government contracts (beneficial)
