To support, work alongside and provide holiday cover for our nursery cook, to ensure the preparation and service of a balanced and healthy diet for all children attending the nursery.
- Previous experience of cooking in a professional/commercial kitchen is essential.
- Experience of cooking in children's nurseries/schools, care homes or hospitals is preferred, but not essential.
- Hourly rate - up to £10.42 dependent on age/experience.
**Working hours**
- Monday to Friday, 2 hours per day 11.30am - 1.30pm (some flexibility with hours). The nursery is open all year and is closed on Bank Holidays.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Operational**_
To follow Shooting Stars Nurseries Food Safety Policies and Procedures and to support the wider nursery team to ensure that these policies and procedures are adhered to.
To assist the cook to plan, prepare and serve a suitably balanced rotating menu, whilst considering nutritional guidelines, as well as Government initiatives and healthy eating campaigns.
Ensure that the nutritional needs of the children are met and that Food Safety Regulations are complied with.
To assist the cook to maintain stock control procedures, and good stock rotation when unpacking and putting away orders.
To cover the nursery cook during annual leave and absence, ensuring the continued quality of preparation and service of the children's meals.
To provide high standards of cleanliness & quality within the nursery environment, ensuring that all areas used by our clients, children and staff are clean and hygienic, promoting good health, and supporting good levels infection control.
- **Health and Safety**_
To carry out routine health and safety checks and risk assessments.
To maintain hygiene and cleaning standards at all times throughout the nursery and with regards to food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness, including the prompt removal of kitchen waste.
Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures e.g. fire precautions, security.
- **General**_
Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by line management.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures with regards to safeguarding and other employment related policies (for example; social networking, mobile phone, etc).
Adhere to all company policies and procedures and observe and where appropriate report upon other staff members’ deliverance.
Ensure the company’s policies on diversity and equal opportunities are adhered to.
