Lead Technical Buyer Metallic

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Lead Technical Buyer (Metallic).
**This role will include**:
- Purchasing components from our external supply chain demonstrating sound negotiation skills and financial awareness with a focus on right first time.
- Selecting external suppliers for parts and services to ensure the Metallic commodity group provides the optimum level of performance in regards to cost effectiveness, quality and on time delivery.
- Managing and working within the agreed budgets and adhering to the relevant Purchasing, Quality and Finance procedures.
- Conduct an annual strategic review of the commodity group to ensure it optimally matches the requirements of the business.
- Provide leadership, development and support for other team members of the Direct Purchasing Team.
- Work closely with other commodity groups and buyers to ensure the effective operation of the overall Programme Purchasing function.
- Supporting the Make Vs Buy process for components and services.
- Create strong, effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
**Key Accountabilities (Duties)**:
- Provide leadership direction and support to the Metallic commodity Technical Buyers.
- Assist and support the supply chain to support the direct F1 race car programmes.
- Lead the commercial interface with external suppliers relevant to your sector.
- Working collaboratively with design and the supply chain to reduce cost and lead-times whenever possible.
- Actively promoting all Purchasing & Quality policies and procedures throughout the business.
- Creating a positive profile for themselves and the department.
- Collaborate in working relationships with other stakeholders to promote strong interdepartmental team-working.
- Create annual continuous improvement plans for cost, quality, delivery, efficiency, and health and safety.
**Skills and Attributes**:
- Ideally CIPS qualified and with proven experience of working in a fast paced engineering prototype (small batch) or preferably motorsport environment.
- Possessing a strong technical background, with a proven understanding of metallic manufacturing processes being highly advantageous.
- You must have the ability to understand and discuss detailed engineering drawings
- Effective communication at all levels ensuring stakeholder engagement.
- A tenacious can do attitude and demonstrate this in their daily role, but also show exceptional supplier communication with a structured approach.
- Substantial experience of managing change within a low volume, high complexity environment.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Must possess a positive process mindset with a capability for logically solving complex problems.
- Resilient and professional with a belief in the concept of Continuous Improvement.
- Energetic with a strong work ethic and customer focus.
- Commercially aware with solid negotiation skills.
- Supporting cost reduction and supplier capability and development programmes.
- Ensuring good maintenance of data held with SAP procurement functions, for all relevant parts.
- Actively promoting Purchasing Policy and procedures.
