Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant for an Alternative Provision in Chorley. The school caters for pupils aged 6 - 16 who have previously been excluded from mainstream education. Many pupils who attend this provision havesocial, emotional and mental health which means that they may display challenging behaviours. The school offer a fully accredited, diverse curriculum balanced with social, emotional and therapeutic aspects to learning. The unique KS2-KS5 programmes promotesthe students’ academic and social development allowing each individual to reach their potential and maximise their chances of achieving independence and living fulfilling lives as positive contributors to society.

The school are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant due to an increase in a the number of pupils who attend school since the start of the new academic year.

**The school ethos**:
The school believes that children should be given the opportunity to have their well-being supported before they attempt to teach the pupils. Therefore, the school offers therapeutic intervention to the pupils and counselling to support their emotional needs.This allows pupils to start to break down their barriers to learning and give them a second chance at education and hep them to transition back into mainstream school or onto a permanent place within a specialist school.

**Learning Support Assistant role**:
Due to the unpredictable nature of the students, the role of a LSA is dynamic and flexible. As a LSA your role will be to support the students and class Teachers and pupils throughout the school day, including when the pupils are accessing the therapeuticprogramme. You will help complete the pupils educational health care plan and meet the needs of each pupil.As a LSA, you need to be open, honest and resilient with a sound knowledge of safeguarding practice.

This is a full-time position (8.30 am - 3.30 pm Monday to Friday)
Pay scale: £10.77 - £12.50
Start Date: ASAP

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
