We're currently looking for a reliable, meticulous and enthusiastic **Quality Inspector **to perform inspection operations, working closely with our production and engineering teams. In addition to operating the FARO arm and updating quality records, you will also have the opportunity to input into our continuous improvement activities with a particular emphasis on reducing product cost, scrap and rework. Our commitment to career development is shown by the number of team members who have progressed into supervisory and leadership roles. **The main duties** of the Quality Inspector include: - Perform incoming inspection for all “measured” components; per control plan - Carrying out in-process inspection per job/route cards - Managing workflow in inspection area to meet operational requirements - Operating existing FARO programs - Ensuring any rejected items are logged in the Quality Management System - Completing stock transfers and other relevant actions on SAP when inspection is completed - Programming from a supplied model and drawing to allow semi-skilled FARO operator to measure components - Using FARO arm to reverse engineer selected components - Keeping up to date with Polyworks software programs and monitor licence requirements - Working with Engineering to produce ISIR reports - Ensuring all ISIR reports are maintained up to date with drawing/model updates by means of the DCN process - Downloading raw data from the FARO into ISIR templates and archive data - Engaging with the Engineering Department in the use of the PDM system - Checking and maintaining FARO arm to ensure it is fully operational, calibrated and in good working order - Assisting semi-skilled operators in the inspection area as required **Person Specification** **Knowledge, Training and Qualifications**: Essential: - Full understanding of the Standard Operating Procedures for the role - Working knowledge of CMM/FARO arm inspection using Polyworks Inspector (or similar) - Trained in the use of hand measurement tools - Ability to read and draw information from engineering drawings/manuals - Computer literate Desirable: - Knowledge of composite materials and other production techniques - Formal vocational qualification in relevant discipline **Skills & Experience**: Essential: - Excellent hand eye coordination and manual dexterity Desirable: - Experience producing structural composite components (RTM desirable or pre-preg) - Experience working in fast-moving, quality-focused technical environments (e.g. automotive, motorsport or aerospace) **Attitude and Behaviour**: Essential: - Reliable and responsible - Keen attention to detail and drive for accuracy - Proactive can-do attitude and willingness to overcome obstacles - Flexibility with regards to tasks and timings - Wiling to learn and progress - Strong team player - Ability to follow instructions carefully - Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic working environment Desirable: - An interest in cars / motorbikes **Salary and Benefits package** The advertised salary of £27,200 includes a basic of £26,000 plus a discretionary cost-of-living allowance of £1,200 (new starters will be immediately eligible for the allowance). Where available, overtime is paid at £19.23 per hour - the flexibility to work additional hours as required is desirable. Working pattern: Core hours are 7.30am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 3pm on Fridays.
