We have an exciting new opportunity for a Ward Clerk to join the team at the neurological care centre Your role will be to provide administrative support to the nursing, therapies and wider disciplinary team.

**Position**: Ward Clerk

**Salary**: £20,319 to £21,654 per annum per annum, pro rata

**Contract**: Permanent

**Hours**: Part time, 30 hours per week - job share to cover a 7 day service (alternate weekend working required)

You will be working at a Neurological Care Centre in Lancashire, they provide the care people need to optimise their health and wellbeing, maximise their independence and support their emotional and social needs. They provide specialist neurological care,rehabilitation and support tailored to the individual needs of people with a range of neurological conditions.

**About the role**:
As Ward Clerk you key responsibilities will include:

- Present a welcoming introduction to the centre and units for patients and visitors
- Assisting in the day-to-day administration of the centre: e.g. arranging transport, booking appointments, answering the centre and unit telephones, maintaining clinical systems
- Ensuring all relevant documentation for the admission, discharge and death of patients from the unit is in place including requesting patient records, maintaining patient lists, and the correct archiving following policy
- Liaising with social services and key community staff to ensure all necessary support services are requested prior to discharge. They may liaise with the admissions and discharge coordinator, nurse team and therapy team to ensure all necessary support servicesare requested prior to discharge
- Following up on actions from referral meetings and taking minutes during ward meetings
- Assisting with the rota and booking of bank and agency staff
- In order to facilitate the safe and smooth running of the Centre, employees are expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally take on reasonable additional tasks to meet the needs of the service

**Experience and skills required**:

- Educated to GCSE standard (Math's & English)
- Experience of working in a healthcare environment
- Working knowledge and use of clinical reporting systems
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Able to prioritise workload - Able to use own initiative and know when to seek advice
