**About Beyond the Blue Service**:
Beyond the Blue offers a range of support services that aim to meet the needs of children, young people, and their parents/carers. The team provides individual, group and family support, and offer a range of emotional wellbeing interventions to help build resilience and develop coping strategies to enable them to better cope with any stresses or difficulties they may face. Within this offer, we also provide a range of counselling services including play therapy for those with more specific issues.

We support families who have a variety of emotional and mental well-being needs, including those coping with loss from parental separation, parental imprisonment, and bereavement. Within this service, we deliver positive connections, which supports families when relationships are difficult or are at risk of breakdown. We can help families establish common aims, problem solve, develop and improve communication between family members focusing on topics such as stress, connection, acceptance and more.

Additionally, Beyond the Blue provide online safety support to children and young people who have been involved in or are at risk of becoming involved in any concerning or harmful online behaviours/activities. Sessions cover topics such as stranger danger, privacy, safety, cyberbullying, and relationships.

**The role**:
Barnardo's are looking to recruit a **sessional emotional wellbeing intervention worker** with experience of providing one to one support to children, young people and adults. Within this role, it is crucial that you are approachable, have good listening skills and a manner that encourages safe and trusting relationships. You will have an awareness of emotional challenges and how this impacts the lives of families, tailoring your work accordingly.

You will be joining a team of wellbeing and therapeutic intervention workers who offer support to families in the Neath Port Talbot area only. You will be adaptable, able to work in the community and at our base (YMCA, Neath). You will be flexible to work face to face, via telephone or video call. We are flexible in hours and days and look forward to discussing this with you.

We are looking for an individual that would thrive working with young people around Online Safety. You will be working with young people to:

- Understand healthy and unhealthy behaviours with online and offline friendships and.relationships
- Develop confident, healthy approaches to sex, relationships and the internet.
- Understand the importance of permission and consent, in particular in relation to sharing images and videos.
- Identify signs of manipulative, pressurising or threatening behaviour and respond safely to it.
- Understand the importance of seeking help from a trusted adult when required.

You will support each young person to complete a survey to establish their current online activities, experiences and concerns. Sessions will then be tailored by the Intervention Worker to the results of the surveys. Children and young people will have the opportunity to work with other children and young people in age-appropriate groups or to have individual support. Themed sessions could include understanding how to stay safe online, raising awareness of how to detect false or unreliable information online, self-esteem and confidence building; assertiveness, maintaining boundaries, information on the law and how to seek help and support.

Parents/carers will also be invited to attend a safe use and monitoring workshop designed to enhance parental skills in monitoring and supporting children and young people's digital wellbeing.

All support provided will be tailored to each family by a support plan developed in partnership.

**Successful applicants will have**:

- Relevant experience of wellbeing support work with children and young people aged 5 to 25 and parents/carers.
- Experience of supporting individuals with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
- Experience of delivering group and individual programmes of work with children, young people and parents in school/community settings and online (zoom).
- Good digital literacy and be aware of factors faced by young people online that relate to staying safe, cyberbullying, privacy and security, sexting, inappropriate content and how to frame open and honest dialogues about such topics.
- Experience in following safeguarding and child protection procedures.
