**Job overview**:
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for several support worker positions to work in Pathology to support the Trust in ' round the clock testing'

Positions will be available at the Salford Royal Pathology Laboratory and the Royal Oldham Pathology Laboratory and will support both the Biochemistry service in routine and urgent testing as well as the Microbiology service for rapid overnight testing for respiratory viruses.

The position will require shift work to cover evenings, nights and weekends.

**Main duties of the job**:
You will perform a range of routine and non-routine tasks within a technical pathology service area, for example, carrying out routine diagnostic tests or equipment support activities. Update laboratory information systems, for example, patient test requests and records.

The role will support the Biochemistry department with routine and urgent testing by ensuring equipment is maintained and workflow of samples is smooth to ensure timely results for patients.

Overnight the role will also involve the rapid testing of swabs for respiratory viruses such as COVID, Flu and RSV using the Cepheid equipment to support the Microbiology service.

The role involves keeping accurate records and data entry. Maintaining quality standards by reporting incidents and implementing quality improvement actions agreed by the department.
