Assistant Psychologist

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed graduate with an interest in developing clinical experience and skills, to join our friendly, busy and innovative long covid psychology service.
As an assistant psychologist you will provide psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. You will assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

1. To undertake protocol based psychological assessment of clients, including neuropsychological, tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.
1. To ensure care is delivered within a culturally informed framework, addressing health inequalities and equity of access to care provided
1. To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, in both community and residential settings.
1. To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups.
1. To work with other staff to assess patients and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews.
1. To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place.
1. To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.
The NW London integrated care system has developed specialist services for individuals who have post-Covid syndrome. There are currently two tiers of provision:
- Post-Covid acute assessment clinics
- Post-Covid community MDTs
These services are multidisciplinary and all include psychologists as key members of the MDTs. The provision is focussed on assessment, triage, diagnostic clarification, signposting, case management and treatment. Currently the psychologists inputting to these teams are a mixture of Clinical Health Psychologists, Neuropsychologists and IAPT Long-term conditions clinicians.
The post will cover all of NWL. There will be a requirement to attend some meetings in person and provide face-to-face interventions. However, postholder will be able to work remotely, including working from home for at least half of the week.
KEY RESULT AREAS
**Clinical**:

Teaching, training and supervision
1. In common with all psychologists, to receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
1. To gain wider experience of professional psychology within the NHS as agreed with the psychologist to whom they are accountable.
1. To develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties
1. To contribute to the training and support of other staff in psychological care.
Management, recruitment and service development
1. To assist in the design and implementation of service development projects within the service as required.
