Wessex AHSN is a company limited by guarantee, owned by the NHS and University members, hosted by University Hospital Southampton.
Based at Southampton Science Park in Chilworth in a bright modern office easily accessible from the M3, M27 and Southampton Parkway train station with sustainable transport options, the location also offers free parking with a café area and networking spaces on site. 27 acres of the Science Park site are designated a protected Conservation Area and open to staff.

ABOUT THE TEAM
The Industry and Innovation Team within Wessex AHSN helps innovators get their products to patients faster, to improve outcomes for patients, improve conditions for staff, reduce costs and build the UK’s health and life science economy. We’re a well-established and friendly team of 9 health, technology, research and business experts with a wide network of contacts, focussing on supporting innovators from industry and within the NHS - we support 200 new innovators each year, many going into bespoke programmes of support delivered by the team. We work closely with the other operational teams at Wessex AHSN and are supported by excellent administrative and communications teams - who you’ll collaborate with and who will support your work.
The post is based at the Wessex AHSN offices at Southampton Science Park, although some homeworking during office-hours is expected and there may be a need for travel across Wessex to meet with project teams and member organisations across the region. Occasional travel to sites across the UK may be required.

We are seeking a well organised, inquisitive team-player to join this small but effective team as Programme Assistant. You’ll support a range of projects and activities, including:
- leading on the tracking and reporting of Wessex AHSN activities to the Office for Life Sciences
- data analytics
- event management and meeting coordination
- tracking the industry and innovation team’s activities
- collating responses and reports
- writing technical notes from meetings with innovators
- curating newsletters to a high professional standard
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Programme Assistant role focuses on supporting the Industry and Innovation (I&I) Team in delivering the Innovation Exchange (IE) programme as commissioned by the Office for Life Science. The successful applicant will take the lead on reporting these activities from across the AHSN (50% of duties) and support innovators and colleagues in understanding and developing the value propositions of health and care technologies (25%). These work streams will require analysis and evaluation of projects both internally and externally (10%). Specific areas of support will be tailored towards the successful applicants experience and expertise.
Programme support will also include the development, delivery and evaluation of the projects within the IE programme, liaising and coordinating project leads across Wessex and promoting good uptake of initiatives across the geography, including diary and event management (15%)
