An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8A Practice Educator (cardiac physiology) at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join our busy and friendly team. You would be expected to work at Maidstone and Tunbridge hospitals as well as the Community Diagnostic Center (CDC) in Maidstone. The post would involve leading the training and education of cardiac physiologists, in particular our STP, PTP, Level 6 apprentices, ETP plus other trainees such as trainee assistant and associate practitioners. You will also provide leadership and support to senior physiologists, supporting them to achieve their CPD goals as well as empowering them to be excellent mentors. The post will also require you to provide education and training to the multidisciplinary team both within cardiology and outside of it. Managerially, you would also be the lead for CDC cardiac services. You would also be expected to lead the development of advanced clinical practice roles for the cardiology department.

The Trust offers a range of invasive and non-invasive investigations including Physiologist led exercise stress testing, tilt testing, ambulatory monitoring, device follow-up and complex invasive procedures including angiography, PCI, PPM, ICD / CRT implantation and EP. The Tunbridge Wells Hospital site holds BSE Departmental Accreditation in Transthoracic echocardiography, Stress Echo, TOE, Contrast and Bubble Studies. We run a Physiologist Led Valve Clinic at both sites and assist in the Rapid Access Heart Failure Clinic. We are currently in the process of expanding advanced clinical practice roles for cardiac physiologists including physiologist lead TOE and stress echo. Currently physiologists perform the TOE during AF ablation in the Cath Lab. We also run a physiologist lead ILR implant service.
