**Playground Workers**
**Based: Glyndon Adventure Centre**
**Salary: Up to £12.16 per hour**
GLL are looking for Children’s Activity Instructors (Playground Workers) based at Glyndon Adventure Play Centre, South East London.
Passionate about seeing children and young people develop by working and engaging with them to achieve and become well rounded adults is a key part of this role as Adventure Playgrounds are unique and special play spaces, with many fantastic benefits to children and young people. They can be the first place where many children learn to climb, jump, swing and hang helping them to build strength, coordination and balance. Young people meet new friends, gain self-esteem and challenge their expectations. Adventure play centres can also be an escape from a difficult home life and become a stable, regular environment with rules, discipline and respect for one another.
Working as part of a team, you’ll create a structured, safe and fun environment using the facilities around you. You’ll be confident in leading children through a mix of arts & crafts and sporting activities that can include (dependent on availability) anything from football, basketball, swimming (where possible), trampolining and even bouncy castles. You’ll encourage an environment of respect and friendship amongst the children, especially as they can be from very diverse backgrounds.
You’ll probably be from a childcare, sports or arts background and have experience of working with children aged 6-16. You should have a minimum Level 2 in Childcare / Play Work or a Level 2 coaching qualification and be able to respond to both group and individual needs. It will be beneficial to have a basic Food Hygiene certificate as well as knowledge of Ofsted and Health & Safety legislation as well as the qualities that parents and guardians expect from childcare provision. It goes without saying that you’ll be friendly and approachable as well as being imaginative, creative and a positive role model to the children that you supervise.
**In return, we offer a range of benefits that you’d expect from the UK’s largest leisure provider**:
- Pension schemes
- Discounted membership at our leisure centres
- Career pathways
- Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best
**Closing date: 19th July**
- The welfare and safety of the children in our care is of the utmost importance to us at GLL. We follow safer recruitment procedures to ensure that our staff are checked and appropriate to work with children and young people. Therefore we’ll require you to complete an enhance DBS check before you will be allowed to start work._
