We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hard working and reliable individual with good communication and interpersonal skills to join our team in the MHRA licensed Pre-Packing Unit in the Pharmacy Department at Neath Port Talbot Hospital, Swansea.

The team in the Pre-Packing Unit is a small but friendly one. We provide just under 70% of all of the pre-packs and over-labelled products used in Wales and pride ourselves on this fact. Wework closely together to ensure that we provide the best service to our customers.

Assisting in the general routine work aspects of the storage & distribution of drugs and other pharmaceuticals purchased at the NPPU Neath Port Talbot Hospital.

Carrying out the accurate distribution of pre-packed pharmaceuticals, receipt of new stock into the department, the preparation of pharmaceuticals and the accurate supply of basic non
- pharmaceutical information to clients.

Complying with all relevant legislation, codes of practice, Health Board policies and procedures.

**As the Assistant Technical Officer your main duties will be**:

- Participating in the assembly of pre-packed/over-labelled items which involves working for long periods at high levels of concentration.
- Receipt, unpacking, checking off and putting away deliveries of pharmaceutical items.
- Picking and distribution of pre-packed/over-labelled stock including lifting, carrying and the movement of reasonably heavy loads.
- Ensure appropriate stock rotation within all areas of the Unit.

Previous pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential. No formal qualifications are needed but you will be required to work towards and obtain the Certificate in Pharmacy Services Skills (NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services), using the in-house training provided, and be committed to continuous professional development.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role.

The duties and main responsibilities are found in the Job Description but, if successful you would be expected to:
Assist in the preparation of pharmaceutical products used in emergency situations, when the pharmacy is closed and when not commercially available by
- Preparation of pre labelled tablets, capsules and liquids.
- Observes safe systems of work, including the use of equipment and machines, dealing with spills, lifting and handling and the use of computers.
- Assists the Senior Technician with the efficient organisation and provision of distribution of NPPU goods.
- Maintains all records of activities undertaken.
- Assists the Senior Technician, in the organisation of safe and effective disposal of pharmaceutical waste.
- To participate in the Health Board’s individual performance review process.
