**Job summary**:
The Dockyard Port of Plymouth (DPoP) consists of all the waters from the port limit (approximately 2NM south of Plymouth Breakwater) to as far as the tide flows and is under the jurisdiction of the King's Harbour Master (KHM), Plymouth.

Located within the DPoP is HM Naval Base Devonport; the base has evolved into one of the largest bases of its kind in Western Europe and is today a key strategic defence asset as a main operating and support base for the Royal Navy. The Port also hosts the commercial harbours of Cattewater Harbour Commissioners, ABP Millbay and Sutton Harbour.

KHM is seeking a Port Officer (Environment & Outreach) to advise on and put into practice KHM response to emerging and developing environmental legislation and initiatives. Support DKHM in production of a KHM Communications Plan, to best communicate and receive messages on KHM matters such as safety, the environment and sustainability. To use NBC Media, the Tamar Estuaries Consultative Forum (TECF) and other internal and external bodies.

The position is to be located at either Port Control Station (Longroom or Flag) with some home working available and is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
The Port Officer (Environment & Outreach) is a key role in the day to day running of the KHM area of jurisdiction; primary areas of the position are as follows:

- To crew the KHM boat as part of an active patrol cycle as required.

**Person specification**:
The role requires attention to detail, diplomacy and an ability to adapt to situations.
