An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our speech and language therapy team, working in our friendly and dynamic department.
The post holder will support the Speech and Language Therapists in the management of patients who are experiencing difficulties with their communication and / or swallowing.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
The post-holder will work as part of the Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) team whose role it is to provide assessment, management and / or support to patients with communication and / or swallowing problems, in the Royal Oldham Hospital.
The post will also include involvement in the preparation of the weekly videofluoroscopy clinic, with the potential for involvement during the clinic as required.
Other duties to support the SaLT team may also be required e.g. some administrative tasks.

We are looking for someone with great communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as with other members of the team.

The post-holder will assist registered professionals in the implementation, delivery and evaluation of therapeutic, rehabilitation and education programmes to promote independence and encourage improved health, functional capabilities and quality of life.
The post-holder will undertake treatment of clients with communication and / or swallowing problems who may have complex, acute or chronic presentations some of which may not be straightforward.
The post-holder will be responsible for managing their own caseload, working independently (within pre-set parameters), monitoring and progressing treatment plans as appropriate.
The post holder will continue to develop and undertake a range of delegated tasks both clinical and non-clinical (housekeeping and clerical), reporting to a registered health professional as appropriate.
To carry out designated duties as part of the SaLT team under the direction & supervision of the registered professional. This could include implementing exercise programmes, making personalised supportive communication systems, liaising with relatives and other healthcare professionals, attending multidisciplinary (MDT) team meetings, referring on to other services and assisting in education programmes. This will include providing treatment which requires dexterity, hand eye co-ordination and moving and handling skills with patients and equipment.
