Personal Assistant for 40-year-old Tetraplegic Charity CEO

Applications without this will not be considered. **About the Role** I’m a 40-year-old male with a spinal cord injury (since 2014), seeking a proactive, trustworthy, and reliable personal assistant to support me on **Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays** (9:30 AM - 6:00 PM). This isn’t a typical carer or support worker role — previous experience in care work is _not_ required, and I would actually prefer someone without it. I already have a team assisting me with my morning and evening routines, so there’s very little personal care involved in this role. I have **limited use of my arms and no functional use of my hands**, so you’ll essentially be acting as my hands for tasks I can't physically do — whether that’s helping me with my laptop, grabbing a coffee, or setting up equipment. You'll be my "co-pilot" for daily activities, helping me maintain my independence. Your support will involve: - Driving my wheelchair-accessible vehicle (a small transit van) - Helping with light cleaning and general tidying (mínimal - just enough to keep things ticking over) - Assisting me in accessing and using exercise equipment - Emptying my catheter leg bag (very simple, full training and gloves provided) You’ll also help me with the day-to-day running of my charity, _Gym Possible_. Tasks will include: - Admin support and paperwork - Accompanying me to appointments and meetings - Managing and creating content for social media Full training will be provided, but **strong computer skills and good written English are essential**. A minimum of five GCSEs (A-C) is required; A-levels or a degree would be an advantage. This is an ongoing position with a 3-month probationary period. Because you'll be working closely alongside me, it's important that we get on well. I'm looking for someone who is: - Sociable, adaptable, and physically capable - Reliable and organised - Hygienic and mindful (I have a slightly compromised immune system) - A confident driver with a full (preferably clean) UK driving licence You don’t need care experience — the right attitude, a willingness to learn, and a professional but friendly approach are the most important things. This role would suit someone who freelances or works part-time elsewhere and is looking for a varied and meaningful position. **More About Me** I'm a regular guy who uses a wheelchair but otherwise lives a busy, independent life. I live in Gosforth with my wife (who works full-time) and enjoy hobbies such as football (Newcastle United supporter), music, art, and filmmaking. I’m the CEO of _Gym Possible_, a charity focused on making exercise accessible for people with disabilities. I currently have two brilliant PAs, but one is moving on after several years, which is why I'm looking for someone new to join my small, supportive team.
