The Youth Worker will disciple, equip, and nurture young people—both primary (ages 5-10) and secondary (ages 11-18)—while sharing the good news of Jesus with them in the church and the wider local community

**Responsibilities**:

- Disciple youth in their love for the Lord, God’s Word, commitment and service in the local church, and sharing the gospel
- Find creative ways to build relationships, and share the gospel through word and deed with local youth
- Lead Bible studies, Sunday schools, and outreach events for youth of various ages and cultural backgrounds
- Facilitate weekly and annual youth programs while sharing the responsibilities of leading, teaching a Bible lesson, leading crafts or games, and interacting with attendees
- Recruit, train, and lead a youth team from within the church to help with youth work
- Prioritize building relationships with the families of the youth
- Connect youth ministry with the larger church
- Work in collaboration with church leadership and in alignment with the church’s mission and vision
- Prioritize the health and safety for all youth at all times
- Be a member of the greater church planting team by participating in regular team life, meetings, church events, Bible studies, and various outreach events

Requirements and Critical Qualities:

- Mature and growing Christian, with a deep and personal faith, seeking to live a life that honors and reflects Christ
- Desire to share the love of God with others
- A humble and teachable spirit
- Experience working and relating with children and youth
- Experience planning, preparing, and leading youth events
- Exhibit servant leadership, communication, time management, organizational, and people skills
- Be a student of culture with a heart to know, honor, and understand cultures different from yours
- Always growing in understanding of host culture and how you can appropriately lead, defer to local leadership, adapt, and communicate with others
- Able to prayerfully and sacrificially collaborate on a multi-cultural team
- Work in collaboration with church leadership
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances, people, and needs in the field, holding firm to the grace-based gospel
- A strong commitment to the mission and values of Serge

Support Raising:

- The person in this role raises their full financial support for salary, ministry expenses, and benefits.
When you are appointed to go with Serge, you are assigned a support coach who will guide you step-by-step through the entire support-raising process.
