Stamford School has an exciting opportunity for a Chaplain.

Chapel life and the Chaplaincy are considered central to the life Stamford School. The Chaplain’s role principally concerns two areas of school life, worship and pastoral care as they affect the life of the whole Stamford Schools’ community. Stamford School has an Anglican foundation and is registered with the Department for Education (DfE) as schools with specific religious character which is Christian.

Depending on availability, accommodation may be available for the Chaplain.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

**Key Responsibilities**
- To direct and support the religious and spiritual life of the School across all faiths and none.
- To oversee all Chapel services and the life of the Chapel more generally. The student population has some diversity, and it is therefore essential that the approach of the Chapel is broad and inclusive.
- To work closely with the Head of Stamford Junior School to devise, support and deliver the spiritual curriculum.
- To ensure that the Chaplaincy has resonance and impact across the whole of the School community, e.g. with Chaplain assemblies.
- Working with colleagues to lead and organise all Chapel services in an open and inclusive fashion, delivering thoughtful and engaging services on issues of faith, spirituality and morality.
- To conduct all House Chapel Services (with parental attendance) and oversee the keynote services - Harvest, Nine Lessons & Carols, Easter, Leavers’ Service etc.
- To be available for the wider school community at key moments, e.g. bereavement.
- To foster an interest in spiritual matters amongst pupils, including through clubs and societies.
- To work with the Director of Music and Chamber Choir to ensure music and choral contributions to the Chapel remain strong.
- To work with the Heads of School and Director of Music to deliver compelling set piece events such as Remembrance
- To manage the day-to-day operations and budget of the Chapel.
- To deliver strong and meaningful links with local churches and religious communities

**Pastoral**
- To play a key part in the pastoral care of the pupils, promoting and supporting their welfare and that of their families by being available to them as required.
- To play a key part in the pastoral care and ministry of colleagues.
- To be involved in the boarding community on a regular basis and in agreement with the Senior Houseparent.
- To be adviser, comforter and helper, as well as offering spiritual guidance to school staff families.

**General**
- To support the strategy and development of the School by offering advice as appropriate.
- To be involved with the community and in charity projects.
