Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.
The School of Law is home to a diverse team of nationally and internationally-recognised academics. We work with researchers and research institutions across the globe, and regularly secure funding from a variety of prestigious sources, including the British Academy/Leverhulme Trust, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). As a school, we are very proud of our degrees, which provide exceptional training for both our undergraduate and postgraduate students. You will be joining a team of dedicated, supportive academics, many of whom have professional experience.
The School of Law also runs a Legal Advice Centre open to members of the public, staff and students. We are one of the only law schools in the UK where every student has the opportunity to get pro bono work experience from their first year onward.
We are now looking for a Lecturer in Criminal Justice.
Working in the School of Justice Studies, you will be expected to teach on a range of Criminal Justice undergraduate programmes, particularly focusing on modules related to the Criminal Justice System and Psychology. You will also be expected to make a full contribution to the School’s scholarship profile, and civic engagement agenda.
The ability to contribute to the teaching of Criminal Justice across a range of modules, for example, Decision making in Criminal Justice, Contemporary issues in Criminal Justice, Introduction to Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice and similar.
In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction, and development support as well as family-friendly policies.
The key to our success in the School of Law is our internationally excellent and world-leading academics and researchers. We value the importance of investment in our staff and students. That’s why we provide research mentors for early career researchers, a targeted staff development budget and fund conference attendance, both nationally and internationally.
This is an exciting time to join LJMU in our bicentenary year and with the launch of our new strategic plan.
If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.
LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential.
