A rare opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Software Developer to work in the Digital Services directorate. As part of Corporate Systems support the role will join the DevOps team of developers responsible for all in-house software solutions.
The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.
The post is a permanent full-time position and benefits from a generous pension scheme and various other employee benefit schemes.

Overview
Purpose of the Job
The role holder will take a leading role maintaining existing software by providing small enhancements and bug fixes and where appropriate assist in developing new software. The role will contribute towards the goal of making better use of cloud.
Main
**Responsibilities**:
- Analyse customers’ support tickets and investigate and provide a remedy for bug reports
- Make small enhancements to existing systems adding new features where appropriate
- Participate in the delivery of complex or multi-person projects within the team
- Maintain systems used to support the organisational processes
- Communicate with the first & second line Corporate Applications support teams to deliver an escalated response to software issues.

Essential
- Level 5 IVQ Advanced Technical Diploma
Desirable
- Experience/Knowledge _
- Experience of working in a technical capacity in a modern IT service
- Experience of developing software solutions
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to manage own time effectively and to be prompt and punctual.
- Drive, self-motivation and ability to learn under guidance and own initiative.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing end-user demands and time-critical schedules, prioritising simultaneous issues and rapidly evaluating alternate action plans.
Desirable
- Databases and SQL experience
- Experience of using Continuous Integrations pipelines

- Excellent analytical skills and ability to develop clear technical statements of work
- Able to analyse customers’ system, process and data requirements
