The AI Infrastructure team at Microsoft Research Cambridge (UK) is dedicated to fundamental and impactful Machine Learning research. Our broad mission is to solve challenging problems from multiple areas, including
- Efficient evaluation of diffusion and flow-matching models,
- Test-time reasoning in large-language models, or
- The future of AI cloud infrastructure.

We have an internship opportunity covering a wide range of topics in these areas.

We are seeking an ML PhD students to join us in Cambridge spring/summer 2025. You will joining a welcoming and highly collaborative environment and work on creative and challenging problems during your internship**.**

**Responsibilities**:
As part of an ambitious collaborative project, you will
- Research and Develop novel Machine Learning models and algorithms.
- Design, implement and evaluate machine learning experiments.
- Write and present your findings in technical documents or papers

**Qualifications**:
**Required/Minimum Qualifications**:

- Be enrolled in a PhD program in Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science (or related discipline).
- Deep experience in one or more of the following: LLMs (training, inference, architectures, chain-of-thought, prompt-tuning), Flow or Diffusion Models (continuous or discrete), Quantization methods, Reasoning, Knowledge Representation, ML Optimization.
- Interns are expected to be physically located in Cambridge UK.

**Other Requirements**:

- A subset of the following:

- Strong communication skills, especially scientific writing and communication.
- Publications in relevant conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR), or high-profile scientific journals.
- Ability to code in Python, as well as familiarity with Git and code reviews.
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary collaborative environment with people from different technical backgrounds.
