**Job overview**:
**Main Purpose of the Job**:The main focus for this role will be to provide wellbeing, pastoral and spiritual support inclusive of all colleagues throughout the NCA. To lead on, implement, deliver and evaluate the development of creative programmes for colleague wellbeing, To work in an integrated fashion, undertaking management responsibilities, clinical pastoral work, education and teaching, committee and group work as well as responding to emergencies and the unexpected. You will need to work in a reactive as well as proactive manner and in accordance with Spiritual Care Standards as agreed by the College of Healthcare Chaplains and the UK Board of Healthcare Chaplaincy. To work within multi-faith/belief chaplaincy and spiritual care team and to respond to the spiritual, religious, cultural and pastoral needs of all patients, visitors and colleagues.

**Main duties of the job**:
As a member of the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care team, the chaplain will be required to respond sensitively and effectively to the spiritual, cultural, pastoral, and religious needs of colleagues, patients and visitors of all beliefs including non-religious beliefs, in a person-centered way.

It is expected that the Chaplain will be prepared to offer a flexible working pattern. The positions may involve participating in a shared on-call rota (out of hours, weekends and bank holidays) with other chaplains. This would require them to live within a reasonable distance of the hospitals and have an ability to travel to the hospitals when needed.

We are looking to appoint experienced Chaplains, who have significant pastoral care skills and demonstrable involvement in healthcare Chaplaincy and multi-faith/ belief working. They will be eligible to work towards UKBHC registration. We are seeking a person who will share our commitment to delivering a safe, clean and personal service; to uphold the Trust values; and will support our team, in delivering the highest standard of spiritual care at all times.

The Northern Care Alliance is excited to recruit four Colleague Wellbeing Chaplains to work in Salford, Oldham and Bury Care Organisations. These brand-new posts are based within established multi-faith/ belief teams. As a member of the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care team, the chaplain will be working in a diverse and inclusive setting. They will be required to respond sensitively and effectively to the spiritual, cultural, pastoral and religious needs of colleagues, patients and visitors of all beliefs including non-religious beliefs.

- Accreditation by a faith/belief community
- Post based training relevant to healthcare chaplaincy

- A certificate in counselling or other relevant specialist training

**Knowledge**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Detailed knowledge of NHS chaplaincy
- Knowledge and understanding of multi-faith/beliefs needs and cultural requirement and the related role and task of healthcare chaplaincy
- Knowledge of and ability to provide rites of passage and rituals etc, particularly with regard to the the dying and for those seriously ill
- Knowledge and understanding of Equality & Diversity

**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Years if experience of significant pastoral/caring work
- Experience in healthcare chaplaincy
- Experience of caring for the sick or bereaved
- Evidence of continued professional development

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of working with mental health

**Skills**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Excellent communication, pastoral and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in difficult/distressing circumstances
- Ability to listen and provide spiritual care in difficult situations
- Experience of and ability to work autonomously
- IT skills/presentation skills
- Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams

- Ability to travel to the hospital site within 1 hour at any time when working or on-call
- Able to share in evening and weekend provision which may include participation in an on-call rota to respond to urgent calls our of contracted hours
