Following recent refurbishments, West Herts Golf Club is able to offer members an extensive range of brand-new facilities. With its modern bar and catering services, our members club has the perfect environment to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundingsof the ancient Whippendell Woods.

**About the role**:
We are looking for an experienced Head Chef to take the lead in ensuring we provide a first-class customer service and catering experience for members, guests and visitors that maximises food sales within the club. We pride ourselves on our excellent customerservice so we are looking for a passionate individual who can deliver consistent quality that our customers expect.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Staffing:_
- Recruit, train, develop, and manage kitchen staff
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety work practices and hygiene standards
- Schedule staff for day-to-day service and events
- Handle employee relation issues and report incidents to the General Manager
- Financial:_
- Monitor and manage product yields
- Conduct regular food stock checks and record all stock, wastage, and loss
- Control food costs and wastage to deliver gross profit margin percentage
- Estimate labour needs and use proper purchasing and staffing procedures to control labour costs
- General:_
- Attend weekly Heads of Department meetings and follow club policies and procedures
- Maintain consistent high standards of food quality in all outlets
- Collaborate with Food & Beverage Manager to develop menus and pricing
- Order kitchen stock and receive deliveries, building relationships with suppliers
- Keep kitchen appliances clean and arrange maintenance or repair as needed

**Hours**:
Full time - 40 hours per week including evenings/weekends to meet the demands of the business.

**Essential skills and experience**:

- 3-5 years’ experience in food preparation.
- 2 plus years’ experience in managing staff, preferably in the golf/hospitality/service industry.
- Experience/knowledge of HACCP procedures.
- Knowledge of food costing and inventory management principles.
- Solid time management, organisation and prioritisation skills.
- Proven ability to effectively build and foster a team environment.
- Ability to work flexibly and proactively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with others.
