ZSL is looking for a Community Engagement Officer to join our Community and Learning team to provide a key role of delivering the Community Engagement Programme sections of the wider Community & Learning Plan. This role will ensure the development and the delivery of the programme which will engage our local community and diversify our audience engagement.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement the CE programme sections of the Community & Learning strategy which includes planned and coordinated local community engagement activities.
- This role will play a key part in increasing and improving Zoo inclusivity, diversity and accessibility. Work with under-represented audiences and relevant stakeholders to improve accessibility in all aspects of the zoo experience
- Develop and deliver community programming and participation aligned with the targets of the Community Engagement plan.
- Identify and report against KPI’s and impact measures that demonstrate the programme is aligned to the Zoo Proposition and ZSL 200 Strategy objectives.
- Ensure all outreach and partnerships activities are within the parameters of the delegated budgets.
- Attend and actively contribute to internal and external meetings and conferences as required.
- Work closely with the Volunteer Manager to create appropriate volunteering opportunities for the community groups.
- Develop and plan the ASC Volunteering project and VI Volunteering Project.
- Work closely with Marketing to finalise and implement the Community Access Scheme.

**Person Specification**:

- Be educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent critical skills based on previous experience of working within community setting.
- Have exemplary project management and event delivery skills.
- Extensive knowledge of audience consultation and co-designing a programme of activities.
- Have some experience or being part of planning and delivering learning activities to community groups.
- Knowledge of evaluation and visitor research analysis.
- Working with a range of audiences
- Prior experience of conducting visitor consultations, preferably within a zoo, aquaria or museum context
- Strong report writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills required to approach and engage members of the public in evaluation, putting them at ease.

**Working Conditions**

This position will have a mixed model of working - both office based but considerable travel to the local community will be required plus programming being delivered in the Zoo. This may require working some evenings and/or weekends.
