**Cleanroom Scientist III**

**Salary**:c£30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience, this may differ.

**Work Hours**:40 hrs a week, Monday to Friday (09:00 - 17:30)

Our client is an innovative biotechnology company based outside of the centre of Cambridge. They have built a platform to synthesis DNA which provides exciting possibilities for ensuring cheaper, faster and more accurate DNA / gene constructs than traditionalplasmid-based methods. They also run drug discovery projects within the gene therapy sector. In a key phase of their growth, our client is looking to bring higher level scientists into the gene construct manufacturing team on a full-time and permanent basiswithin their GMP grade cleanroom.

**The Opportunity**

This is an opportunity for a higher level scientist who holds a BSc/MSc in a Biology focused role, with previous clean room manufacturing / cell manufacturing experience. As a cleanroom Scientist III, you will be responsible for:

- Plan and coordinate the manufacture and construction of DNA / mRNA gene constructs within a clean room environment.
- Support junior Scientists to ensure quality standards are met.
- Support production schedule creation and allocation of tasks to junior scientists.
- Preparation and maintenance of reagents and laboratory consumables.
- Maintenance of correct quality documentation (QMS).
- Working in accordance with GMP and ISO regulations.
- Following SOPs and ensuring health and safety is maintained at all times.
- Support and run troubleshooting exercises on laboratory equipment.

**Skills and Experience Needed**
- BSc / MSc / PhD in a biological / biotechnology discipline (essential)
- Previous clean room experience, ideally a cell manufacturing facility (essential)
- Strong experience in core molecular biology including DNA / RNA extraction, flow cytometry, PCR, RT-PCR, DNA cloning, gel electrophoresis, qPCR (essential)
- Ability to develop and test new assays (essential)
- Experience with various separation techniques including Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography (HIC), Ion Exchange Chromatography (IEX) (essential)
- Excellent attention to detail. (essential)
- Understanding of GMP regulations (desired)
