This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join a team of Psychological Therapists who are working in the Mood, Anxiety, PTSD, Psychotherapy Service (MAPPS).
This full-time post is based initially at the St. Georges Community Health Centre before the team moves to the Fitzwilliam Centre in the New Year, and is for a period of 24-months on a Fixed Term Contract. The post involves working as part of the MDT providing highly specialised evidence-based psychological therapies to people with complex anxiety and mood disorders. The role involves direct clinical work with service users and their families/carers, psychological interventions for people who require highly specialised psychological therapies and for whom there has been an inadequate response to ‘first line’ interventions, or for whom these interventions are not appropriate.
This post will also involve working with staff, under the supervision of a Senior Clinical Psychologist, through joint work, consultation, reflective practice and team formulation.
We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Psychologist who is interested in working with adults with complex mental health problems. A positive approach to multidisciplinary teamwork is essential, and the post-holder will be involved in a range of clinical and service evaluation activities.
This role involves supporting the wider clinical team with a variety of tasks, such as: clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work and the developing reporting requirements of the Team. There is also an opportunity to shadow clinical staff and to undertake some direct clinical work; for example in offering support and stabilisation skills based sessions to clients on the waiting list for therapy, to co-facilitating skills based groups (such as the STAIR programme) and to developing our service user engagement work. This post will also involve working with staff through joint work, consultation, reflective practice and team formulation. There will be opportunities for joint work with the Assistant Psychologist in the SPS Personality and Complex Trauma team on particular projects, such as the Service User engagement sessions.
