**COOK JOB DESCRIPTION**
Practitioners are accountable to the Senior Staff, Manager’s and the Provider.
The Cook will:
1. Adhere to the Centres policies and the staff handbook
2. Complete an induction on the centres polices, health and safety procedure
3. It is good practice to arrive at least 5 / 10 minutes before the session’s starts, if possible.
4. Prepare and cook healthy and well balanced snacks and meals for children aged 0-12 years; adhering to government documents and guidelines, e.g. ‘Nutritional guidance for early years’, ‘Setting the table and ‘Eat well guide’
5. Wear appropriate uniform - company polo shirt, apron, hair net if required
6. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen at all times
7. Completing relevant paperwork. Order shopping weekly
8. Keep up to date with all relevant food standards agency paperwork (cook safe).
9. Follow Moray Council Policy and procedure for all food delivered for the ELCC funded children.
10. Display menus in reception and on our social media page, change daily
11. Update and change menu in line with business requirements and new requirements from the government.
12. Report any breakages or unsafe equipment to the Senior Staff/ Management.
13. Ensure clinical waste and hazardous substances policy is followed.
14. Ensure correctly coloured equipment is used when preparing food and appropriate hygiene methods followed (e.g. hand washing, disposable aprons worn, hair tied back)
15. working as part of a team establish and maintain positive relationships with parent/ carers of the children attending the service and encourage positive parental involvement
16. Liaise with other members of staff in the Centre with regards to food
17. Attend relevant training as required to keep up to date with current legislation, methods and best practice.
18. Adhere to the Centre’s Policies and Procedures at all times, including Confidentiality.
19. Adhere to and correctly follow the House Rules at all times.
20. Meet annually with the Manager for a formal appraisal.
21. Ensure shopping is ordered before Friday for the following week.
22. Form positive relationships with children, interacting with them
23. Complete an enhanced PVG and first aid.
1. Attend relevant training, staff meetings as required to keep up to date with current legislation, methods and best practice.
2. Adhere to the Centre’s Policies and Procedures at all times, including Confidentiality.
3. Meet regularly for support and supervision
4. Take part in training inhouse and your own to meet SSC CPD requirements.
Job Duties:
- Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean working station whilst adhering to health & safety standards
- Assist with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen and equipment
- Restock items as needed throughout the shift
- Adhere to all food hygiene & safety standards
