The role is for approximately 32-40 hours per week, with some flexibility, and will include weekend and Saturday shifts.

Ben’s Farm Shops is the product of Ben Watson’s enthusiasm for great food. He started developing his skills in butchery, curing hams and bacon and making pies and sausages from pigs raised on the family’s Riverford Farm in Devon in 1984. From a converted garage and occasional farm gate sales the business has grown to four thriving farm shops. The shops offer a wide range of groceries as well as products from our own kitchen, and have built our justifiable reputation for being the “real thing”. The name of the business changed from Riverford Farm Shops to Ben’s Farm Shop in 2016 but the ethos and founding principles remain the same.

Ben’s Wine & Tapas is an extension of this ethos and reflects Ben’s passion for, and knowledge of, interesting and ethically produced wines which are showcased alongside tapas with aim of creating an exciting place to meet and eat in Totnes.

**Main Responsibilities**:
This is a part-time role working around 32-40 hours per week, with some flexibility. Shifts may be day or evening.

You will perform a wide variety of routine work including taking orders and advising customers on dishes, serving drinks and food, serving food and drinks, making barista coffee to a high standard, clearing tables, washing dishes and glasses, plating and serving desserts, helping with events. There's always lots to do and we work as a team. Customer service is our priority and we want customers to feel welcome and have a great time.

Ideally you will already have an interest and a certain amount of knowledge about alcoholic drinks, wine in particular, and we expect you to actively work to develop your own knowledge and learn about the wines we stock.

**Person Specification**:

- Previous experience of working in a retail or hospitality role - bar, café, bistro or similar environment
- Outgoing, confident in approaching and engaging with customers
- Excellent customer service skills and willingly ‘goes the extra mile’ when appropriate
- Flexible approach to work and hours
- Numerate: giving correct change, counting cash, counting stock
- IT literate - able to use an electronic till to take orders and complete transactions accurately
- Able to follow instructions effectively and consistently
- Friendly, pleasant and outgoing personality
- Gets on well with co-workers and able to work effectively in a small team
- Willing, helpful and trustworthy
- To work in this role, you must be 18 or over.
