**Bistro General Assistant** is required for a busy bistro in central Aberdeen.

Hours: Min 6 hours per week. Working shift patterns between 5am through to 10pm Monday to Saturday. Working on a freelance, self-employed basis.

Founded in 2012, Bev’s Bistro has become renowned for catering excellence in Aberdeen. Creating exquisite afternoon tea menus and flavoursome bistro meals - all cooked from scratch using ingredients from locally sourced suppliers. In addition to our thriving dine in business, we provide fine dining in private residences and a range of catering services for corporate businesses.

We are a small - but perfectly formed team - who are all equally passionate about food and delivering exceptional service to all our customers.

**Key duties and responsibilities**:

- Assist in food preparation and presentation, ensuring it meets our high standards - from soups and sandwiches through to private chef and event catering
- Welcome and provide exceptional service to our takeaway and dine in customers
- Open and close the bistro, managing front and back-of-house operations
- Contribute creatively to the development of new recipes and menu ideas
- Participate in order planning, fulfilment and delivery
- Maintain accurate stock levels and make informed decisions about purchasing requirements
- Support your colleagues to achieve culinary excellence and foster a positive team environment
- Be willing to wear many hats; barista, waiter, kitchen porter, cook, delivery driver, and cleaner
- Take ownership of your work and workspace - we don't do excuses here
- Any other duties as required in line with the nature of your work.

**Essential experience**
- Previously worked in hospitality
- Preparation and presentation of a variety of food types/dishes - making food from scratch, using natural ingredients
- Stock control, food labelling and stock rotation

**Essential skills/qualifications**:

- Fluent in English (verbal, listening and written)
- Exemplary communication skills
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to a car
- Exceptional organisational skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy

**Desirable experience**:

- SVQ (or NVQ) in food preparation and or hospitality management.
