Menzies Distribution has an excellent opportunity for an energised and experienced Night Shift Manager to join our South East London team. Our team play a vital role in supporting our business to deliver world-class service and time-critical newspapers &magazines to our 1,250 Newstrade customers.

Working closely with the Operations Manager - South East London, you will build and maintain strong working relationships with all colleagues and provide leadership for the night shift team. You will have oversight for a team of Deputy Shift Managers, WarehouseOperatives and Drivers for whom you’ll be responsible for coaching, training and motivating.

**Night Shift Manager Duties**:

- Manage and motivate the night teams to meet customer timescales and improve productivity
- Manage performance of night shift management team through agreed KPI’s via regular 1:1s and performance reviews
- Actively manage all KPI’s to develop a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring team productivity and cost targets (wages, overtime, H&S, maintenance, equipment etc) are met
- Manage allocation of routes for contractors
- Management of the end to end warehouse functions and processes
- Provide 'hand over report’ to oncoming Shift Manager
- Maintain quality standards across all functions
- Ensure inductions and effective 'onboarding’ processes are carried out for all new staff
- Provide training to all staff and contractors to ensure they are able to undertake their duties effectively, efficiently and safely
- Ensure Health & Safety is maintained to a high standard and all staff receive the relevant training

**Night Shift Manager Requirements**:
- Relevant night experience running high paced parcel/distribution operation
- Experience of managing all aspects of health and safety and of working in an environment where there is a strong health and safety culture
- A proven track record of effective people management
- Experience of delivering expanding operational KPI’s with an eye on quality and cost control
- Ability to demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking
- A common sense approach to problem solving
- Computer literate
- Able to prioritise and manage tasks in a fast paced, pressurised 24/7 environment
- Comfortable working to strict deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
